Serving our community with faith, hope, and compassion since 1875. Rooted in heritage, growing in love — join our family on Bell Island.
Nestled on Bell Island in Conception Bay, St. Michael's Roman Catholic Parish has been a cornerstone of community life for over 150 years. Founded in 1875 by Bishop Thomas J. Power, our parish grew alongside the iron ore mining industry that once made Bell Island the second-largest community in Newfoundland.
Through boom and hardship — from the bustling mining era of the early 1900s to the challenging years after the mines closed in 1966 — St. Michael's has remained a constant source of spiritual guidance, community support, and unwavering faith. We have weathered wartime, economic shifts, and demographic change together as one family in Christ.
Today, we continue our mission of pastoral care, sacramental ministry, and community outreach. Whether you are a lifelong parishioner or visiting Bell Island for the first time, you are warmly welcome in our community.
